Professional Bee Removal Services Are Affected By Honey Bee Life Cycles

As many people are aware of the critical role that honeybees play in the environment, nests found in or near homes or businesses could be frightening and risky for homeowners or employees. Nowadays most bee removal services have to be experienced with the life span of bees, in addition to other factors, to be best equipped to handle the hives with minimal harm and stress to the bees.

There are basically two types of insect removal services in the United States, those that kill all the bees and then remove the hive, and those that carry out all possible precautions to protect the safety of the bees, even while helping home and business owners purge their buildings of undesirable pests. Environmentally conscious individuals often pick the eco-friendly bee catcher businesses, who after removal will either give away or sell all hives to beekeepers so the invaders can be returned to the fields to pollinate plant-life as soon as possible.

Honeybee life spans vary based on several conditions such as:

1. the position each bee plays in keeping a hive strong and functioning

2. the environment where the hive is kept

3. time of year when bees mature and begin to carry out working responsibilities in the hive

These roles include the queen who is in charge of laying the eggs for the whole hive; the drones whose responsibility is to fertilize the queen; and the worker bees who have tasks that include feeding the queen, taking newly born bee larvae, collecting pollen and defending the community. Queen bees may live as old as two years, drones live long enough to mate with the queen; and a worker bee's lifespan varies from 40 to 140 days based on the season.

In the spring, summer and fall worker bees stay incredibly active, mostly by collecting pollen for the making of honey to nourish the young. A strong queen can lay up 2000 eggs every day, which means the workers must look after all of those eggs to guarantee a strong hive. It's not uncommon for worker bees to literally be labored to death in these busy months - resulting in a limited life cycle of only about 40 days. A few bees may be found crawling around on the ground as a result of beating their wings to tatters, so the worker bee is unable to go back to the hive.

During the wet, frosty months of winter, a number of honeybee hives exhibit a certain level of stress brought on by a shortage of incoming sustenance--since flowers and crops are not providing pollen. A weak or aging queen that has decreased brood production could also create stress in a community as workers do not have enough to do to keep them occupied.

Proactive beekeepers should do everything they can to keep hives thriving throughout the cold months, so they may start the new production year with a strong and vital hive. Failing queens are often replaced with a stronger queen at this time of year. Even healthy queens must have their diets supplemented, given that the honey is removed for sale. Queens and workers alike are usually fed sugary syrup to keep her productive and the workers busy. Bee containers are occasionally covered to keep them temperate, dry, and ice-free. Since workers are not outside foraging for pollens, winter hatched bees usually have a much lengthier life cycle than workers born in other times of year. Different bee species do better in colder climates than others do. Beekeepers usually transfer their hives to different locations for overwintering and keeping them as healthy as can be for the spring crop months ahead.

Beekeepers who understand the life cycle of bees and the requirements of certain species will have a stronger grasp of how to handle an unwelcome hive found in someones house or on company property, regardless of the season it is found. By handling the bees in a way that does them no injury, a productive hive can be put to work in another area, providing an environmental benefit to the public at large.
