For the travelers that are thinking of taking a holiday in Mexico, you will love the pristine beaches that are around the hotel zone in Cancun. The beaches were restored to their beauty by over two hundred people after a violent storm carried much of the sand away. Visitors that spend time on these beaches agree that they are fantastic.

The accommodations at the posh resorts are not the only thing about Cancun that is inviting and luxurious, the beaches are inviting as will.

After the restoration of the beaches they appear to be about 50% bigger that what they were before the storms damaged them. The visitors that come to these beaches are able to enjoy the additional space when they take part in all of the activities that are offered.

Those beaches that extend into the Caribbean are often referred to as the north side beaches; these beaches are sheltered from the strong Caribbean current by Isla Mujeres. Those who visit this beach will find that in this area the wind and wave conditions are very mild ideal for family activities and swimming.

People that participate in water sports might like the beaches on the east side much better.

Playa Las Perlas can be found at the beginning of the Hotel Zone. This beach is popular for swimming as well as all water sports activities. There are plenty of restaurants and bars that beach goers can enjoy while relaxing at Playa Las Perlas.

Playa Linda is a beach on the north side an area where there are many tourist destinations; because of the calm crystal clear water here, this beach is ideal for family water sports. Those of you who enjoy scuba diving will enjoy the tours on offer in this area.

Playa Tortugas and Playa Langosta are two neighboring beaches that are well-known for their relaxed atmosphere and beaches with pristine sand. This is also a great beach for those who enjoy active water sports like jet skiing, water skiing or boating as the waves can get more active than in other areas.

Playa Caracol is one of the most popular beaches in Cancun. The stunning beach has long stretches of soft sand that glimmers in the sun and shallow water leading out with a smooth sandy bottom. Families with children really enjoy the crystal clear waters and have fun playing at this beach. When they have had enough sun they enjoy browsing in the many shops in the area and dining in one the fabulous restaurants.

Those who choose a beach at the east side of Cancun will experience far breezier and higher waves than the north side, although there are still some beaches that are family friendly to choose from.

Playa Marlin, Chac Mool and Gaviota Azul are the northern most beaches on the east side in the hotel zone and are not as glamorous as many of the other beaches. However, there are many people that enjoy the high wave action found at these beaches which is perfect for windsurfing and parasailing.

Playa Ballenas is situated in one of Cancun's most exciting areas with plenty to explore on land as well. There are a lot of fun water sports to be enjoyed like boating, tubing, water-skiing and of course swimming a really fun and friendly beach.

Playa Nizuc and Playa Delfines are beaches that offer some of the most beautiful scenery in Cancun, offering plenty of lovely restaurants to choose from after a long day on the beach.
