Who wouldn't like Cancun's lovely white beaches, historical sites, and a nightlife that can't be beat? This is a great city to visit and provides a lot of places for a tourist to go that are in operation solely to entertain visitors. No one should go to Cancun without sampling a bit of everything from the rich tradition of the Mayans.
In Cancun, you may get to see a few of the very old relics, however there are some nearer to the town. If you do take a trip, you should schedule an extra day to take a tour of the Temple of Kukulcan. If you are visiting during the Spring or Autumn Equinox, make sure to get to the temple early.
While the sun moves slowly across the sky, the corner of the pyramid casts a shadow of the great plumed serpent Kukulcan. As day wears on and the sun moves, the shadow does also and the serpent begins to slither slowly down the pyramid side.
The area where this city stands today in the Yucatan Peninsula often called the Mexican Caribbean was the home of a coconut plantation and just 3 residents as recently as 1970. Until then, it contained the remnants of the Mayans, natural beauty and of course, coconut trees. In Cancun, you'll find a modern city, filled with the wonders of the ancient world, but whose oldest building is less than 40 years old.
Cancun is appropriate place for those who like water and sun. Cancun offers fantastic places to meet a special someone, especially on the sandy, sunny beaches.
If simply lying out in the sun or cruising the beach isn't active enough, there are ample spots to snorkel, scuba dive, sail or fish. For evening entertainment, take a dinner cruise.
With all the activities of the day, take a nap after dinner to prepare for the nightlife. Nightlife doesn't begin until 10:30 and then goes through the night to 5:00 in the morning.
