We have two key strategies to help you get started drop ship wholesaling consumer electronics. The first concerns warehouse drop ship companies, and the second concerns a genuine electronics wholesaler who also provides a low cost drop shipping option.
The fastest, down and dirty way I know of to get an electronics ecommerce site up and fully functioning is to engage the services of a warehouse dropshipper, also known as a drop ship aggregator. I'm not saying that this is the best way for you, but I do believe that it is the quickest way to put up retail storefront. Now, is this the best business decision? That I can't say because you wear the hat of business planner. My point, here, is no matter how you go into online, Internet business, you have to think through the actual planning in order to reach your goals.
The drop ship aggregator, also known as a warehouse dropshipper, is not a wholesale company. It is a kind of retail business that assumes responsibility for inventory. Many such companies offer you potential access to thousands of products. In many cases, warehouse drop shippers require a recurring monthly or yearly membership fee in exchange for their services. You, in turn, would not need to have a sales tax permit because the company would collect sales tax for you, and also, such companies are generally not true wholesalers and so would not require you to have a reseller's permit.
Below, I've listed five legitimate drop ship companies who are pretty well-known on the Internet: (1) Megagoods, (2) Doba (3) Dropship Design (4) Shopster (5) Dropship Direct (6) EZ Dropship (7) Inventory Source. If you take the time to visit these sites, you will notice that they are not merely clones of each other. Each site offers different kinds of services, and each will have a different set of terms of service that you will need to pay attention to.
Do a search on Google for any of the above or put ".com" at the end of each name and the listing will pop up in Google. Be sure to read the site information and terms of service carefully so that you understand the agreements. Some of the sites mentioned, such Megagoods, are true wholesalers. Inventory Source is actually a sort of broker arranging dropshipping with a number of true wholesalers.
The second way to go into business--not as fast as the first but workable--is to contact a legitimate wholesale electronics distributor and set-up an account. The example I have in mind is WYNIT because they also offer drop shipping at no extra cost other than the price of shipping. This is not intended to be a recommendation. I'm using WYNIT as an example because I have used them for eBay auctions both for drop shipping and stocking my own inventory. They were entirely professional and treated me with the same respect given to their large, retail customers. WYNIT also happens to be one of the largest wholesale distributors of consumer electronics in the United States, and if you take the time communicate with them on a professional level will probably be happy to help you set up an account.
Using WYNIT as an example, once you have successfully met their requirements for account set-up, WYNIT will ship inventory either directly to you or drop ship under your company name at no additional cost. That is, all you pay for the drop ship service is the cost of shipping. Again, WYNIT is a true wholesale firm and as such does not bother with selling website packages or charging recurring monthly membership fees. Responsibility for your site rests entirely upon you as WYNIT and most other true wholesaler only provide you with inventory.
