Visiting Seattle And Hotels In Renton

You have to make it a point to book a room in any of the hotels in Renton and visit Seattle. Specifically, you should pony up to the cliche and get a photograph in front of the Space Needle. I'm aware of how lame that may sound to you, but it is a modern architectural marvel compliments of the 1962 World's Fare. Say what you will of the Needle, it did give Seattle a distinct skyline.

From the Needle, we can tumble back in time, like Buck Rogers, and see that the region has been inhabited for approximately 4,000 years. The first Europeans in the region didn't arrive until 1850 or so, to the everlasting chagrin of the Duwamish and Suquamish tribes. While both the native tribes and the settlers tried to live in peaceful co-habitation, in the end, the natives were forcibly removed and resettled in the Port Madison Reservation.

The dreams of a new nation -- built on stolen land. Forgive the dramatic editorializing, but it's true. Subsequently, Seattle birthed and nourished a number of industries, some of which passed on in the name of off-shore profits. Since Boeing faded from the Emerald City, Seattle has vied with a measure of success to lure hi-tech businesses away from Silicon Valley. Most notably, the city and its suburbs are home to Amazon.com, Real Networks, and T-Mobile.

Few of us, however, can actively think of Seattle and not conjure a tall latte in a white paper cup embossed with the logo of a twin-tailed mermaid. The original Starbucks was opened in Pike Place Market in 1971, where it has remained. The corporate headquarters moved into the old Sears Roebuck building and renamed the building The Starbucks Center. Currently, Starbucks is the single largest coffee company in the world, with 16,120 stores in 49 countries.

Commerce aside, the beauty of Seattle speaks for itself. Situated at he mouth of Puget Sound, the city enjoys the lush verdant canopy that has made the Pacific Northwest so famous. I realize this sounds very canned, and I do admire my good friend Myer's brutal honesty about making much ado about these kinds of things, but Seattle is a beautiful place to visit, and a beautiful place to live.

More Information:

Of all the hotels in Renton you can choose from, few compare to the simple elegance of the Larkspur.
