You're now officially engaged! Congratulations! But before you let the bliss go to your head, don't forget about the responsibilities that loom ahead for the wedding. Now that you have set your date, and you are beginning to plan your wedding, the first step is to plan out your budget; the second is to plan your guest list. A guest list can be one of the most stressful decisions you make in regard to your wedding.
Ask yourself a few basic questions: For instance, how many people can your venue hold? How many people can you afford to feed? Create a target number of people you can invite and know that you can adjust 10-20% as not everybody will be able to attend your wedding.
First set your target number of guests and plan to be able to invite 10-20% more than that number. Not everybody will be able to attend your wedding. Once you have a number in mind, do your best to stick to it. This is where the battles begin!
Be respectful, don't question every person on the guest list and remember that some of the people you are inviting may be questioned as well. You may have never met that person, but there is a reason your fiance is inviting them, so respect it.
Your guest list should not be such a battle that you call your wedding off all together and most definitely should not break the bank. Be respectful, set limits and stick to them and you and your fiance should be able to get through one of the biggest decisions of your wedding planning!
