Looks like we are having an early winter this year, which gives us less time to get our cars ready for the season. Although car repair Toronto is a heavily populated category online, when it comes to looking for businesses providing automotive services, it may be hard to find someone available. Like every other year tire shops and auto mechanics are quite busy. There are businesses that provide mobile car repair Toronto and surrounding area. Their vehicles are usually fully equipped with all the tools they may need to fix your car on the spot. Some companies will go as far as doing car repair Ontario wide. It is a good idea to keep the phone number of a mechanic that will come to you in case of an emergency. If you have not already winterized your car, you may want to start looking into it soon. Here are some winter safety tips to keep you safe this season:

(1) If you are a new driver and do not have much experience driving in Canadian winter, you should consider winter lessons and be comfortable driving with less traction. Driving conditions can change quickly; snow, freezing rain and black ice can come in your way before your even know it. It is extremely important to know how to control your used car in Ontario in various different conditions, before you get behind the steering wheel this winter. It is not the same as driving in summer.

(2) Keep extra distance between vehicles when driving. Do not accelerate too fast and avoid having to brake sharply. Once again, lack of traction during winter can cause your car to go out of control; you always need to maintain distance, so you have a little bit extra time to react to conditions on the road.

(3) Snow in the winter season is inevitable making winter tires very important. A lot of people assume they can put really good all season tires on their used car in Ontario and be okay for winter. These tires may increase traction for your car, but studies have shown that winter tires can increase traction up to 40% more than regular all seasons. Now if you are someone that needs to drive all the time, think carefully about the type of tires you need on your car. This decision should be made ahead of time, since there is always a shortage of winter tires during the busy season.

(4) Make sure you have good windshield wipers and your windshield washer fluid is always full. You never know when it may start snowing or get slush splashed onto your windshield by another vehicle. You already have to be careful because of the weather, you do not want anything affecting your visibility.

(5) If you are driving an older car or just bought a used car in Ontario for the winter, make sure you have a good battery and your car is tuned up to date. If the battery, spark plugs, cables, etc., are not maintained, your car may not start up during extremely low temperatures.

(6) For the people driving a 4x4 or an all wheel drive, do not think of this as a safety feature. This is only a performance feature, which does not give you added safety. Your car may be able to pull out of places where other cars may not, but nothing changes in regard to stopping.
