Cancun Real Estate - Residents Benefit From New U.S. Consular Agency

One the growing strengths of Cancun real estate is the convenient access to a broad range of international services; one very important service which has recently been expanded is that of the U.S. Consulate.

Until recently, residents of Cancun have had to travel to Merida, about 3 hours away, for the majority of consular services. This changed in November 2010, when the governor of the state of Quintana Roo (which is home to Canucn, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Tulum), Felix Gonzalez, and the U.S. consul for the Yucatan Peninsula, Gregory Segas, officially presented the opening of the new consulate in Cancun.

Governor Gonzalez pointed out that this is a sign of confidence of the U.S. Government in Cancun as an area which is "completely secure and calm, where everyone can walk safely. "

In addition to this important aspect of safety, the opening of the consulate also presents new convenience and security for Cancun home owners who are U.S. citizens, allowing them to receive information and consular support directly in this city.

The governor applauded the support for "U.S. citizens who are in this state, have the backing, support and the permanent defense of their home authority to represent them in Quintana Roo."

The opening of the consular office was also called "part of maintaining an unprecedented relationship is maintained between the U.S. Government and the Government of Quintana Roo."
