Woman dream of the day that a man will get down on one knee and romantically propose to her with a beautiful ring that she cannot wait to put on her finger! The problem is, what is beautiful to her husband-to-be may not be beautiful to her. The last thing you want to have is the perfect proposal setup and a ring that she is less than happy with. The very first step is to get an idea of what style and cut diamond your girlfriend would want. This you can simply ask, or look at some of her current jewelry. What styles and cuts of other stones does she tend to wear? Pay attention to the jewelry that she tends to wear the most and base the beginning of your search off of these.
Now, on the contrary, some women tend to wear a certain style of jewelry, but secretly wish for something completely different when it comes to her engagement ring. Keep an ear out for tips and hints she me drop along the way. Make sure that she spends a few bucks buying a magazine and watch carefully if she takes a second look at a page with a ring on it.
Next you have to think size. If the woman you hope to marry is a small woman, a huge stone may not be the way to go. Try to stick with a simple, elegant ring that won't over power her whole hand! If she has larger hands, you don't want the stone to look to small, so opt for something a little larger.
