The profit margin is what you are ultimately trying to affect and by doing things more efficiently, you can easily affect it. There are many ways to affect your bottom line and your profit margin. The easiest way to do this is by raising your prices.
The problem with just arbitrarily increasing your prices is that customers are not going to like it. Angering customers is not the best way to do business and increasing prices for no good reason and not giving the clients any notice that you are going to do this, and why this is happening just gives them a reason to start looking elsewhere for their products .
There are other ways to increase your profit margin and a good way to do that is by making your products more efficiently. This doesn't necessarily mean just buying your materials better, although that can be a big part of it, but by being more efficient with every aspect of your process.
You have to ask yourself certain questions about the process. Are you using too many steps in the process? Are you wasting material in the process? Is there too many people working on the project so that the labor is cutting into your profit? These are all questions that you have to ask yourself and your team in order to get a clear picture of what is going on. Without a clear picture of how the process works and every component of the process, then you won't be able put a full picture together in order to make good decisions.
