Florida's Key West is one of the most beautiful (therefore, popular) vacation destinations in the world. The island is full of rich history and seafaring traditions that still live on today. At the newly renovated historic seaport district, known to the locals as Key West Bight, you will find dozens of boats that harbor there, making it is a popular spot to arrange a day on the water. The city life in Key West is also full of excitement and many wonderful activities to do and sights to see. There are so many great places to enjoy in Key West that there is never a dull moment. Here are 11 things to do in Key West that can jumpstart your visit and get it moving in the right direction.

1. Little White House at Truman Annex - This is a great place to go to learn some of the history of Key West. President Harry Truman spent 11 working vacations in Key West because he felt that there was no better place to work and relax at the same time. This house was a white clapboard model that was on the south side of town and eventually became known as the Little White House. It has recently been resorted and is now a living museum. It offers visitors a glimpse of history in Key West that began in 1890, as it was also used as a command center for naval operation during the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II.

2. Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center - In the 6,400 square feet of educational wonder at this facility is a 74-seat movie theater, a baby conch farm and other wonderful displays of shipwrecks, coral reefs and historic forts. The admission is free, and it is a great place to take the entire family.

3. Key West Ghost Tours - Walk through some of the most haunted areas of the island and get a glimpse into some of the most historical, hysterical and haunted buildings in the world. If you are a thrill seeker than a ghost tour is perfect for you.

4. Dry Tortugas National Park - Only 70 miles west of Key West is the Dry Tortugas National Park, a wildlife refuge unlike any other in the world. You will be out in the middle of the ocean and will leave civilization behind as you enjoy some of the best snorkeling and deep sea diving you will ever experience. You will also get the chance to see Fort Jefferson, which was used as a military prison during the Civil War. The trip can include a dive with full snorkeling gear, breakfast or lunch and a guided tour of Fort Jefferson. There are lots of options!

5. Key West Sunset Cruises - Enjoy some of the best cruises that Key West has to offer. There is no better way to relax and take in all of the fresh sea air and beauty of the island than on a sunset cruise. There are several to choose from that include the Commotion on the Ocean, Wind and Wine, Moet and Chandon, Pride of Key West Sunset Sail, Rum and Reggae, Sunset Snorkel Combo, Sunset Culinaire and Part Cat Dinner Cruise.

6. Dolphin Tours - It can be a dream come true to swim with some of Mother Nature's most gentle ocean creatures. These dolphins are playful, fun and excited to meet you. They will swim right up to the boat and literally smile at you. The tour includes a dolphin adventure, a tour of the local waters and a snorkeling excursion to top it all off.

7. Glass Bottom Boats - These boats are the most exciting vessels in on the ocean as they are the only ones that can give you a view of underwater sea life without actually having to get in the water. You can see the marvels of such creatures like dolphins, different species of fish and reefs that are home to hundreds of sea creatures. This should definitely be on your to-do list.

8. Key West Golf - For avid golfers there is no other course like the Key West Golf Course. This is the only course in the United States that is found in the Caribbean. You can enjoy golfing this state-of-the-art course while enjoying the breezes from the tropical Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.

10. Private Charters - Take your own private charter out to the middle of the ocean to enjoy some deep sea fishing, diving, snorkeling and much more. When you charter a boat you have the luxury of enjoying the ocean in privacy and comfort, on your own schedule!

11. Sky Diving - If you really want a thrill-seeking adventure that you won't soon forget then give skydiving a try. You will fly up in a private plane to reach a certain altitude.
