People that want to work in the medical field and deal with patients' care and well being often become a nurse. Images of Florence Nightingale and how she helped others describes the basic view of them. However, it is not easy to work in this field. One needs to go to school, get trained, obtain a degree, and pass a nursing exam to qualify to work. These are the necessary steps and rules that allow one to work and become employed.

Before you even consider the nursing field you will need to get trained. This is done by the numerous technical and four year colleges and universities. Each one provides the required courses that you must finish as dictated by the state. Some have basic educational needs such as English, math, and history classes. The majority of the courses needed are science related. After you take all required courses and pass them you should obtain your degree.

There is a basic level of nurse and a higher level. The lower level is an LPN or licensed practical nurse. This only requires 24 months of education and training. The RN or registered nurse is the higher level which has more courses of study. This is generally completed in 48 months. The more training and education the higher the level of pay.

NCLEX is the test that all nurses must pass to obtain their license. The test will vary by the level of nurse type you are taking the test for. Do not take the test without first being ready for it. The test is costly, and you do not want to waste money by having to retake it because you did not prepare correctly.

The assumption is made that getting a degree qualifies one to practice nursing. This is false. You need to also pass the nursing test. This test can only be taken if you are approved for it. You will need to send in your application with your information that shows you have obtain the necessary requirements to take the test.

The nursing exam affects your employment as a nurse as it must be passed to work in your field. Once this test is passed you receive a license to work as a nurse. This is kept on file by the state that you plan to work.

More Information:

Graduates of an accredited nursing program must also pass a nursing test to receive a license. You can learn more about preparing for the exam by visiting the website at http://www.nursingexamprepinfo.com/ soon.
