Situated at the Firth of Clyde's mouth, Arran is oftentimes called "Scotland in miniature." Like Scotland, the Isle of Arran has varied scenery and a diverse range of flora and fauna. Arran features glens, lochs, rocky coves, moors, sandy beaches and even has a lowlands and highlands region. Increasing the likeness, the island also has standing stone circles, a brewery, a distillery, castles, museums and excellent local crafts and produce. The Isle of Arran is a magnificent vacation destination, especially for people who enjoy walking and the likes. In the article below I introduce Isle of Arran tourist attractions and a quick examination of hotels on the Isle of Arran.

Brodick Castle

Brodick Castle is a commanding building of red sandstone which once was the property of the dukes of Hamilton. Situated outside the port of Brodick, enclosed by beautiful gardens and parks Brodick Castle occupies the site of an ancient Viking fortress. Visiting the castle is a superb family day out kids will have a great time in the adventure playground while older members of the family will be pleased by the castle's excellent collection of fine art, porcelain and silver. For a quick visit allow two hours.

Arran Heritage Museum

Arran Heritage Museum is found, on the site of a school, in Brodick and opens from April-October from half past ten in the morning to half past four in the afternoon. Consisting of a selection buildings; a croft (small farmstead), cottage, farmhouse and smiddy as well as stable, milk house, laundry, coach house and harness room and more. Exhibits reflect the archaeology, social history and geology of the island.

Isle of Arran Distillery

Wherever you visit in Scotland it appears as though are rarely far away from something associated with the whisky industry such as a whisky distillery. The Isle of Arran Distillery uses traditional techniques in the newest working distillery in the country. The distillery is open to visitors from April to October, and it has a restaurant and visitor centre.

Isle of Arran Brewery

The Isle of Arran Brewery is located at the entrance of Brodick Country Park. People can view the brewing process from observation windows and a viewing gallery as well as getting a sample of the end product. The micro-brewery utilizes modern high-tech equipment to brew an ale using traditional ingredients without adding artificial preservatives and additives.

Lochranza Castle

The final Isle of Arran visitor attraction I wish to introduce is Lochranza Castle on the North coast. On first looks all you can see is a ruined sixteenth century towerhouse, but you can get to the interior using keys from the Post Office. Once you are inside the L-plan tower you start to see hints of a grand structure.

Accommodation On Arran

Finding the best Arran accommodation shouldn't be incredibly difficult as Arran hotel accommodation can be found in most of the main towns (Blackwaterfoot, Brodick and Lamlash all have at least 1 hotel as well as guest houses). Accommodation to look out for include the Glenisle Hotel and the Lamlash Bay Hotel (in Lamlash), the Auchrannie Spa Resort (in Brodrick,) and the Best Western Kinloch Hotel (in Blackwaterfoot) all of which have a superb reputation.
