- Some people just aren't funny. It doesn't mean that they are bad people no more than not being able to play guitar makes you a bad person. If you are not known as a bit of a comedian, don't use a best man speech to launch your career. Unfunny people who try to tell jokes in a best speech often end up with results that are cringe worthy.
- A best man speech should not be the platform for a personal vendetta to be vented. Remember that this is not your day but instead the bride and groom's day. Best man rants often happen if too much alcohol has been consumed, so this is yet another reason to avoid alcohol before giving this speech.
- Ask someone that you trust to have a look over your speech before the big day arrives make sure you trust this person. You may have written something into your speech which could be a bit inappropriate, but you have not realized, so it is better to get another opinion.
