To put it simply, the HTC Evo is one of those smart phone's that will make other phone's on the market seem light years behind. This is one of the best mobile devices around, running on a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and comes with an 8MP camera, Wi-MAX compatibility, 4.3-inch WVGA and HDMI-out. The Evo's large screen makes it the perfect phone for such tasks like reading, browsing the Internet, texting and viewing photos. Coming in an ordinary packaging, the phone is shipped with a 1500mAh battery, micro-USB cable, USB wall charger, a 8GB microSD card and user manuals and documents.
The HTC Evo 4G stamps out a formidable design with a mix coating of gloss and brief red and black accents that are more visible around the camera lens. You can customize the look with a different colored case to match your requirements. Every hardware incorporated in the phone seems to serve a purpose rather than simply being there for the sake of design. It makes a powerful statement regardless of its little design. One of the major pluses of the Evo is its 8 megapixel camera that has a dual LED flash and 720p video recording. Shots look great when they are scaled down to monitor size although there is a bit of shutter lag, especially with the autofocus.
A volume rocker is at the sides of the phone, but there is no camera button. The rocker is easy to find as it is quite pronounced. At the bottom, on the left hand side is a mic hole together with ports for a standard HDMI Type D micro connector and a standard Micro-USB connector. Videos taken with the Evo can be output through the HDMI port while data connections and charging can be done through the Micro-USB connector port. A typical 3.4mm headphone jack is at the top of the phone together with a power button on the right hand side.
The Evo is powered by Sense and thus the UI is standard. The HTC Evo runs very smoothly and is incorporated with two components that make it different from other Android phones: YouTube HQ and Sprint's Hotspot app. YouTube HQ significantly augments the video quality on fast connection speeds, enabling clips to play smoother and crisper. However, they fill the Evo's display instead of being constrained in a smaller box. You might want to protect the display with original screen protector to keep it looking new. Hotspot is much easier to use and can be activated through the settings menu or a dedicated launcher. This phone works great with both 3G and 4G networks, reaching speeds of 7.5Mbps down and up to 3.5 Mbps up on Wi-MAX.
Although the Evo's most significant feature must be its 4G capabilities, it isn't the only hotspot app. The phone has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Wi-MAX radio, which can be controlled independently. Calls can be made over CDMA and when the signal is strong, full, desktop-caliber websites load with Wi-Fi-like speed. Speeds over 3G are also commendable and when using 4G, the Evo's battery life lasts up to 10 hours and 13 minutes. This is when the phone is in "full usage," streaming high quality Audio continuously.
You can personalize your phone with accessories such as docks and batteries, travel chargers, and car chargers. For carrying convenience, you might need holsters and belt clip cases. Other accessories include skins and covers, USB data cables, A2DP Stereo Headphones, microSD memories among others. All these can be easily purchased online at reputable websites that stock accessories for the HTC EVO 4G.
