Will start with the 1997 C5, this was the Corvette’s fifth generation and a new look to the iconic brand. You could get this corvette in either a four speed automatic or a six speed manual transmission; it is powered by a V8, 5.7-liter engine, with 345 horsepower and 350 pounds, per feet, of torque. Then in 2001 General Motors decide to give the Vette some more added power, it increased its horsepower to 350. GM also decided to add a faster and better performing Corvette to the line up, it was named the Z06. This still had the V8, 5.7-litre engine that the C5 had, but the horsepower increased to 405.
The interior of the Corvette is beautiful. When you first sit in a fifth Generation Corvette even before you turn the key, you know this vehicle is powerful. It feels like you’re sitting on top of a rocket ship when sitting in these plush leather seats. The speedometer and engine monitoring systems when lit up look great at night. The Vette comes standard with AM/FM stereo, AC/heating and a CD player. The way the C5 was designed was to have everything so close to operate that you actually hardly move an inch when operating the vehicle.
Corvette used cars from 1997 to 2004 only had two fuel statistics. For the manual transmission, it had 13.7-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 8.0-litre, per 100km, for highway driving. For the automatic transmission, it had a 14-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 8.7-litre, per 100km, for highway driving.
Let’s take a look at the pros and cons of buying a used C5 Corvette:
1- There is an issue with the steering column locking up due to a faulty electronic system.
2- There is a problem with the low oil pressure light not working properly.
3- There are no crash tests records done on the Corvette from 1997 to 2004 from two leading automobile organizations who handle these tests.
Corvette used cars from those years I mentioned above are not that expensive and probably one of the best sports cars from 1997 to 2004.
