Many components are checked during an electrical inspection. The reason behind electrical inspections is to keep a home safe for a family to live in. Every home has an initial inspection done by an official during the building process. To make sure that you will pass this type of inspection, your electrician works to follow all safety and local codes, and can be present with the inspector while the inspection takes place in order to know exactly what needs to be done. Electrical inspections also occur before the sale of a home just to make sure it still remains safe.

The main phase of an electrical inspection is to look for any code violations. You electrician will work to follow each and every code that is made available to them, but with any jobsite, there might be at least one code violation. After these code violations have been brought to the attention of the builder, the electricians will go in and follow the list made by the inspector to fix everything properly. You can also have your electrician do this same type of inspection on a house you are looking to purchase to make sure everything is in solid working order.

Other things that electricians and inspectors alike look for during an inspection is the state of the wiring, the placement of the wiring, and what type of voltage and amps are being run throughout. Even low voltage wiring still needs to be inspected before you can close up the walls of a new construction project. Outlets, appliances, and anything that is hooked up to power will also need to be inspected to see that they are properly and safely wired to work correctly without causing any damage during the life of the home. It is not uncommon for homeowners to have to update the wiring of their home after a certain amount of years before the sale of their house.

Some might find electrical inspections a bit unfamiliar, or possibly unnecessary, but in reality this type of inspection protects homeowners and renters alike. It revolves around safety and usability of your electricity. A properly inspected and wired home will save money on the electric bill and will give confidence to whomever lives there that they are safe. A properly wired house will also be less likely to lose power, malfunction, or require a lot of money worth of repair work further down the road.
