It is amazing just how many Britons have never actually spent any real time in their own capital city. Even those who have travelled down for business or to visit friends often won’t have seen the main attractions. For some reason, we seem to have a deep suspicion of our own tourist attractions, and a deep fear of appearing to be tourists in our own country.
However, even if you have no wish to see some of the most well-known sites, there is still plenty that London has to offer. From an array of hidden gems to simply a great number of wonderful parks, there is something for everyone in our capital no matter how vehemently you might want to avoid tourist trappings.
For those who haven’t visited London properly, the first place to start when planning a trip is to do as much research as possible. Find the areas that the locals themselves prefer to frequent and then choose London hotels accordingly. When it comes to luxury hotels London has plenty and finding the perfect one for you will make the experience all the more worthwhile, with the best situating you in the most exciting and vibrant or simply the most picturesque areas in the city.
Once you have chosen from the array of London hotels, the next step is to put those preconceptions out of your mind. There is far more to the city than aggressive hustle and bustle, and the city can also be simply one of the best places to relax once you know the places to do so. There are few cities in Europe that offer the same level of culture or extreme beauty that London can offer and missing out on everything it has due to any preconceptions is a major shame.
