We are constantly bombarded with millions of pieces of information everyday as to how we can lose weight, and what's causing our weight gain. Day in and day out, there is always some new piece of advice that is going to change everything. The truth is that we as a society are doing just a few things wrong. When we change those few things, we will lose weight automatically. Here are 3 big mistakes that you are probably making.

1. Enormous Portion's - It's possible to gain weight eating too much of anything, but with today's calorie dense foods, it's even easier. Calorie moderation is key to weight loss, so staying in the range of 1200-1400 calories spread between 4-5 meals per day will make huge strides in your fat burning efforts. You should never eat to the point where you feel sick, just satisfied. Eat slower and spread your meals out, and you will lose weight quickly.

2. Escalator Nation - We can load a dishwasher in 2 minutes, microwave a meal in 5, and pay a dog walker in 1; we have become a society of inactive people. We delegate even the simplest tasks and avoid any real exercise. The average person takes 1,500 steps per day. Sound like a lot? Well actually the recommended amount is 10,000 steps per day. We are extremely inactive and have stopped our fat burning in its tracks. I recommend getting a pedometer so that you can monitor where you are in your walking efforts. From now on, take the stairs, park a little farther, and just take the long way. You will naturally increase your weight loss.

3. Crash Diet Life Style - We are constantly looking for some new exciting way to lose weight. Every infomercial on some new fad diet is catching our attention. These fad diets causing us to artificially lose weight instead of following a healthy lifestyle. Instead of living healthy, we are looking for the next hot thing. Make an effort to follow the basics and ignore fad diets. Eat healthy fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins and commit to educating yourself to what's truly healthy, instead of what's the next big thing.

Stop jumping from bandwagon to bandwagon; make the choice to live a healthy lifestyle instead of following a fad diet. Eat healthy foods until you are full, live a more active life, and don't follow the crowd, and you will lose weight faster than you ever thought possible.
