Teak Furniture Outdoor Or Indoor Use?

By: Renea Finlay

Teak has been highly valued worldwide throughout history. Native to Southeast Asia, it dates back as early as 7th Century Siam (now Thailand), where it was used to construct and decorate royal residences, religious buildings, and trade ships. Other cultures began using teak wood for shipbuilding in the Middle Ages, and its buoyancy, water resistance, durability and anti-fungal properties make it an ideal material for marine construction to this day.

Due to teaks ability to resist warping and rotting it is ideal for outdoor settings such as, decks, patios and gardens. But that doesn't mean teak furniture will look out of place indoors. It can also be a perfect compliment to a sitting room, sunroom, etc.

Teak furniture styles are so numerous and varied, that finding distinctively styled tables, chairs, and benches to compliment your home should be a snap. Any way you slice it, teak furniture is an affordable long term value whether it's use is for indoors or out.
