Cinequest Film Festival opens with a Gala party featuring
appetizers, desserts, cocktails and entertainment, and continues
its run through March 13 in San Jose. During Canadian Music
Week, up to 150 artists will be selected to play in CMW's
Official Breakthrough Showcase Series in selected downtown
Toronto venues through March 5. The 4th Annual Billboard Music &
Money Symposium conducts an in-depth examination of the
financial realities in the music industry for a one-time only
March 3 session in New York City. The Academy of Country Music
Awards Nominees host a press conference for its upcoming awards
show on March 3 in Nashville. Alameda Writers Group which
presents lectures by novelists, screenwriters, agents, producers
and other industry professionals, besides offering support and
feedback for works-in-progress, has its free monthly meeting
March 5 at Glendale Central Library in Glendale. A weekend
workshop for actors of all experience and capability with
instructor Kirk Baltz takes place March 5 and 6 in Los Angeles.
An Audition Science Seminar at Burt Reynold's Museum located in
Jupiter, will be held March 6-8. A BMI Round Table examines how
the Nashville music industry operates, as well as other topics,
when it meets March 7 in Nashville. UCLA-WINMEC Mobile
Media/Entertainment Forum hosts professionals from Hollywood’s
entertainment and media industry analyzing Mobile/Wireless
proliferation. The RockstarImage.com Seminar features author,
speaker, and image coach John Battaglia for the evening of March
8. National Association of Black Owned Broadcasters 21st Annual
Communications Awards Dinner honors Michael Schultz, Melvin Van
Peebles, Vanessa Williams and others at a March 11 engagement in
Washington, DC. The International Live Music Conference at
Kensington London is "by invitation only", and seeks to bring
together key figures involved in the presentation of live
entertainment around the globe for meetings on March 11-13. TV
Land Awards Will be taped on Sunday, March 13 at the Barker
Hangar in Santa Monica, and air on TV Land and Nick at Nite on
Wednesday, March 16. A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction
Ceremony is set for March 14 at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New
York City. IRMA's 35th Annual Recording Media Forum addresses
need-to-know issues for content owners and their
replicating/duplicating business partners in its sessions March
14-16 in Palm Springs. Following the 25th Annual Tejano Music
Awards will be the "Official After Awards Party" at the Kickapoo
Lucky Eagle Casino March 19 in Eagle Pass. NAACP Image Awards
will be taped for broadcast over the FOX Network on March 19 in
Universal Amphitheater, Universal City. Pool parties, artist
showcasing in Miami nightspots, intense networking, underscore
the Miami Winter Music Conference focused on the dance music
industry, from March 22-26. Writers Guild of America/West hosts
a "Writers on Writing" session March 23 in Los Angeles. At an
Entertainment Industry Business Council session, March 24 in Los
Angeles, a panel of Hollywood experts discuss how soundtracks
are becoming a huge revenue source for record labels. JAM: Jazz
